Lyrics
I wonder if you thought
about it at the time.
A cold and dreary morning
caught you by surprise,
And the baby's still crying,
It never seems to end,
You just want a little quiet,
You feel you're gonna bend.
Oh, little boy black and
blue
Tell me, what happened to
you?
It's much more than a shame
A child learning pain.
A baby’s born with rosy cheeks
and a twinkle in his eyes.
But pain is all he's learning
so the twinkle slowly dies.
The evil that was done to
him
Is now his eyes, his heart.
The violence is never through;
The past does not depart.
The pains will never go away;
The wounds will never heal.
The black will never turn
to gray;
The blood will not congeal.
God is all forgiving,
People seldom are.
But where is God all said
and done
When parents go to far?
Oh, little boy black and
blue
Tell me, who did this to
you you?
It's much more than a shame
A child learning pain. |
Behind The Song
I wrote this several years ago about Anthony.
He had, what appeared to be, a possible
fracture in his arm. When they took x-rays
they found multiple fractures which pointed
to child abuse. Although the authorities
knew all this, within a few months he
was
placed back in the same environment.
